Great for Little Ones December 7, 2008 mom of preschooler (IA) 50 out of 51 found this review helpful
I don't usually write reviews, but my 3 year old has so much fun with this game, I had to let other parents know. After about an hour of playing, my son was able to master this game by himself. He is so proud he has a game he can do without help.
This game has great graphics, even on a large screen tv. It gives lots of praise, and is very forgiving if he runs into something (ie, a tree, or log floating in water, etc). It doesn't "kill off" someone and make you restart from somewhere.
Those who love dinosaurs will love this also, as my son is thrilled at the idea of flying on the back of a pterydon, sliding down the back of a bronchiosaurus (sp?), and swimming on the back of a myasaurus. He will play this for over an hour at a time, which is a big deal, and it's great to see him jumping, climbing vines, swimming, digging in sand for tresures, climbing trees to get food for a dinosaur, and etc.
I was afraid it was almost too easy, but he loves it and plays it over and over. Would definitely recommend to anyone not sure what to get a toddler. They also have settings where you can stand behind the child and assist them without them really knowing...in case they start struggling or getting frustrated. Very happy with this purchase!!
Great starter game December 7, 2008 E. J Tastad (Marion, IA United States) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
Pros:
Great starter game for someone new to video games.
Interactive plot that kept my 3.5 year old interested.
Exciting animals my son likes
Cons:
Relatively easy for anyone with experience to games
Relatively short
Who should buy:
Any parent that wants to introduce their kids to video games with an intuitive kid friendly interface. Since it is a video game the parent should supervise their child and limit time spent playing.
This is by no means a highly educational game (at least no more than the show), but my son loves it. He is 3.5 years old and was able to get the controls pretty quickly. It is important for kids not to get too discouraged early on starting something new, and this game is great for that.
He played through one of the adventures in about 2 to 4 hours if I remember correctly. There are controls for the parent to assist, but we never used those; we just sat with him and helped him whenever he ran into trouble he couldn't figure out on his own. It was challenging enough to be stimulating for him, but easy enough for him not to get discouraged. He will probably play through it again by himself. We all know children like to repeat things many times at this age for learning.
Great Wii Game for Toddler Age January 3, 2009 Jamie C. Darzi 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
We bought a Nintendo Wii system for Christmas and chose the Go, Diego, Go!: Great Dinosaur Rescue for our son who just turned 3 years old. This was a great choice for him. The game has Diego and his sister Alicia tromping through the jungle with a myasaurus on a dinosaur rescue.
What I loved about this game:
1) The game is very intuitive with my three year old able to play most of it without help.
2) The player uses the Wii remote to make Diego move by jumping up and down, swimming, pushing, and lots of other actions. As a mom who wants to get the kids off the couch, this game has a lot of movement.
3)There is a section of the game called "Prehistoric Racers" that allows my 3 year old and 5 year old to use two Wii remotes and race against each other. It's an easy way to allow both to play a game at the same time.
4) When an activity might be too much for a little one, an icon flashes on the screen that informs that another person can grab a Wii remote and help.
What I didn't like...
1) It seems a little repetitive to me but I doubt that my three year would complain about that.
2) I can see that if I let the kids play this game for a long time at each sitting, they will quickly move through all the adventure.
Great game for your litlle ones even kids on spectrum August 7, 2009 Naz Ibraheem (Capecod, MA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am a mom of three kids with special needs.A girl 5, a boy 3 and a girl who just turned 2.All my kids are on autism spectrum disorder. My 5 yr old one has processing problem and she has hard time processing information and then acting on it or giving an answer back.she played wii at a friend's house and fell in love with it.I went online and did some research about kids with autism and wii and believe it or not people had to say great things about it.It improves social and motor skills. They are using wii in some schools also beacause some kids really got benefited from it.My daughter simply loves this game.I could not believe that she could hear the instruction and actually follow them without any help.she is getting better and better playing this game everyday.I wrote all this information about wii because if there are any parents out there who are confused like me about getting wii games for their autistic kids. You should definitely do some research and give it a try and this game is a great game to begin with.My daughter just cant get enough of it even playing it over and over again.Highly recommended.
Fun even for 5 year olds February 11, 2010 Matthew Henry (ANN ARBOR, MI USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My 5 1/2 year old has spent quite a while playing video games, and he likes to pop this in every now and again when he's in the mood for something easy. Flashy graphics and simple, fun gameplay. Wouldn't be fun for older kids or adults - it's far to easy.
Be warned: don't buy this game AND Diego Safari Rescue as they are the exact same game with different graphics.
